Well, I’m boring this year. No April Fool’s joke. Hey, maybe that’s the joke! Derrrr…
But check this out! (thanks to altoclarinets on the TFBC forum for finding this!)

Trackbacks are enabled on the TFBC website. I thought I had them enabled all along, but I had to fix a couple of things. They should work now, so if you have a music related or personal blog, feel free to use trackback.
Also, check out this nice writeup of the history of American concert band music from the US Marine Band’s website along with some other great music resources.
Well, I’m about halfway through getting the archive transcriptions and tags moved over to WordPress, so hopefully I can knock those out pretty soon and get the archives back to where they were. At this time they are available, but they aren’t quite in the format that I have in mind.
Also, I upgraded the Coppermine graphics gallery the other week and something went kablooey. I worked to try to fix it for a little while and was unsuccessful, so at this point, I’d rather put the time and effort into just moving them into WordPress than to try to fix the Coppermine install. So add that to my To Do list.
See anything else on the website that’s funky looking or not quite working right? Let me know!

I never was able to get to catch up on stuff after our rare snow and freeze here down South. But we went from snow to over 80 degrees in one week! Sheesh.
Nine years ago, my husband and I tied the knot! We’re still goin’ strong! Thanks and love to Jarrett for supporting me and my crazy dreams.Â
And from I Can Has Cheezburger?:

Our power went out earlier this week plus there hasn’t been school due to the bad weather, so I am still attempting to catch up on stuff. Hopefully I’ll have a new comic up on Friday!
I was sent a note by Jason about Bands of America’s fundraising campaign:
Hello, I would just like to mention to this site that the organization, Bands Of America, responsible for many high-school-related marching band events is in danger of closing. Please look into this at http://www.bands.org/alumni/index.html
any and all publicity is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
I received this email, and I’m passing on the information if you are interested!Â
My name is Gaby Wilson. I’m a Casting Producer for ABC’s Primetime show, “Wife Swap.” I hope you don’t mind me contacting you, but we’re currently into our fifth season at the moment and we’re looking for one-of-a-kind families with plenty of personality.
Specifically, we’re looking for families that love marching in the band!! Do your kids live in their dinkles? Are you the president of the band boosters? Does your life revolve around band competitions? If you’ve always thought your family was meant for TV, I want to hear from you! In addition, please feel free to forward this email on to any families you think would be interested in taking part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In case you are unfamiliar with the show, the premise of Wife Swap is to take two different families and have the moms switch places to experience how another family lives. Half of the week, mom lives the life of the family she is staying with. Then she introduces a “rule change” where she implements rules and activities that are important to her family. It’s a positive experience for people to not only learn but teach about other families and other ways of life. Wife Swap airs on Disney owned ABC television on Fridays at 8 pm- the family hour!
Requirements: Each family must consist of two parents and at least one child between 7 and 17 and should reside in the continental U.S. (There may be other children living in the home who are older or younger than the required age as long as one child is in the required age range.)
To apply for the show, please send a family description along with a photo to gaby.wifeswap@gmail.com
Each family that tapes an episode of Wife Swap receives a financial honorarium as compensation for their time.  Anyone who refers a family that appears on our program receives $1000 as a ‘thank you’ from us.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this email and I hope to hear from you soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! If you’re interested in learning more, please include your contact information.
Thank you for your time,
–
Gaby Wilson

Now that I’m using WordPress, I won’t have to make up some news to notify the RSS feed that I’ve updated the comic for the week – it’s included as a part of it! Yea!
So I won’t be writing “news” each week unless I have something to point out. And hey, I might even interject a post here and there if there’s some band/music news to share!
I’m about 1/3 of the way done moving over comic transcripts from OhNoRobot, so once that is done, I’ll be removing the link to the old archive in the menu and replacing it with the current one. Work continues on migrating data over completely to the WordPress format.
I also implemented OpenID, so if you have an account, you can post comments and trackbacks using your account.
You’ll probably notice that the website looks a lot different and probably very unorganized right now. I’m in the process of moving the content to WordPress. Usually I would have gotten everything completed beforehand and then do a cutover since I dislike “under construction” websites, but with my schedule, it’s really easier for me to just rebuild it as I go along.
I still plan on doing comic updates, and I’ll eventually get everything back in order. I should have switched to WordPress some time ago, because I was having to do a lot of manual work to update the site and use quite a few applications. Now I can integrate everything into WordPress and have it all in one place.
Thanks for your patience! Unfortunately, I’ll have to start over with the ratings, but I was able to bring over all of the old news posts and comments. This will not affect the forums.Â
The RSS feed address has changed, so be sure to update it if you are using it in a reader. If you subscribe to email updates, you won’t have to do anything – I’ve already switched it over to the new feed.
In case you missed it, TFBC will now be updated on Wednesdays. So far so good!
You’ve heard of Disney on Ice… now here’s – a marching band on ice!
